Behind the Scenes at the Rally

    Lehigh's 66th Rally

Every year, Lehigh has a long-standing tradition to "adopt" the incoming freshman class into the Lehigh family. It's called the Rally. Each class here at Lehigh is "adopted" by the class who graduated 50 years prior- for the '14's it is the class of 1964. At the Rally, among many other performances, are alumni from the class of 1964 who will be holding their 50th reunion on the same weekend the class of 2014 will be graduating. The "50 year" class adoption is one of Lehigh's Longest running traditions. As one of the people in charge of coordinating the setup of the rally, I had 3 Flip video cameras that were dispersed to various students to see what the students see.

The video below was shot by a first-year student named Austin, pictured above. At 1:35, you can briefly see me carrying the American flag in the parade.

    1 Week Left!

To all my readers that will be first-year students- school starts in 1 week!

It looks like it might be a little rainy for the next few days, but with clear skies and a high in the upper 70's on thursday, I don't think we can ask for a better day to kick off the freshman move-in.For those of you that are moving in today for the early orientation events- today is a beautiful day as well!
What am I up to until school starts? Retreats! Most of the larger clubs/organizations on campus like to take some time before school starts to update their members on new things for the year, go through training, or simply get back in the mindset of being at Lehigh. As I juggle attending 3 of these retreats at the same time, I'll try to take some pictures along the way.
New students (and families): feel free to say hi to me if you see me around campus. I'll also be running an information session for one of my organizations, The Association of Student Alumni, this friday at 3:00. Look for the information in your orientation packet.

Failure - Mario's trip to Shake Shack in Madison Sq. Park

So on a recent weekend day trip to New York, I decided to go visit a burger stand that I've been told rivals In-N-Out.

There are very few things in the world that are better than a double-double animal style. (see above)

However, I have heard from so many people that I have to try Shake Shack, a New York (and now Miami) area burger joint. So I did:

This is the view of the line from the front of the line, over 45 minutes after I started waiting in line.

So you may be wondering, after waiting in line for MORE THAN AN HOUR for my double shack burger and a Vitamin C Creamsicle Shake, how was it?

After devouring the burger in about 2 minutes, I finally came out of my trance to realize that I forgot to take a picture of the actual burger.
    No!! I'm so sorry.
I think my blog should be re-titled "The Aftermath" - a collection of food wrappers of wonderful sandwiches that I forget to take pictures of before I devour them.
The Verdict: Shake Shack combines a great burger with an even better selection of shakes and fries. Shake Shack has a wider selection than In-N-Out, however the Double-Double still reigns supreme. Worth the hour and 10 minutes I spent in line? Definitely. Let's just say that there is a reason the line is that long.
